How saliva helps to digest the food ? Justify

Saliva contains an enzyme called salivary amylase which breaks down the complex sugar starch into simple water soluble molecules called glucose. It converts starch into cigarette and optimum pH of about 7. So, glucose is easily get digested and absorbed.

Saliva acts just like the ions in a electrolyte
it helps in breakdown of food into simpler form
and hence helps in digestion
