Hey!!
The scientists know velocity because they
know 5he radius of the earth and they use
the law of universal gravitation to calculate
the mass of the earth in terms of the gravitation force on an object at the earth's surface using the radius of the surface.They also need the constant of proportionality on the law of universal gravitation.
