all what happens is in the northern hemisphere, there's a constellation named big Dipper. the two stars of it pointers known in Hindi as dubhe and merak point towards the pole star( see figure 1 ). the pole star is always towards north cause' it's collinear to the earth's axis.( see figure 2 ) thus if we figure out the pole star( it's bright thus can be easily spotted) we will know where is north pole. and if we know where is north we could easily know where is South Pole :-)
