During the Industrial Revolution, Britain became the first country in the world to move away from agriculture and develop a modern way of living. This lead to advanced cities, a rising middle class and a completely new way of Life.
During this time, life in India did not change much as the country was mostly made up of agriculture villages and poor people, with a small minority of rich princes.
Many British companies e.g. the ones producing Textiles, moved their factories to India, due to large low-cost labour, very little laws and regulations to meet and in order to be closer to importance sources of Cotton, Jute, Wool etc.

Apart from Textiles, companies producing carpets, Food products, ammunition also opened their factories to take advantage of India's poor economic situation.

When products would be made, they were shipped all over the world, under 'Made in UK' or 'Made in Great Britain' tags.
One of the many reasons why British Industries flourished in India
