when the carpet is hit by a stick it is suddenly set into motion while dust particles in it tend to remain at rest due to inertia of rest. so dust comes out of it and carpet gets cleaned.

Hey!

When we smack a carpet with stick, dust particles come outside from the carpet and fall down on the floor.
This is due to inertia of rest. Dust particles tend to be at rest and when we smack the carpet with a stick, carpet comes in motion and dust particles, in order to be at rest, falls down and carpet is cleaned.
