hy dear.....Competitive inhibitors have structural similarity with substrate so they are selected by the binding sites but not able to activate the active site so products are not formed.....:-)

Answer :-

The following facts can be studied to know how the process of "Competitive Inhibition" inhibits the rate of chemical reactions :-

  • The process of inhibition of an enzyme, caused by a substance resembling the substrate molecule is termed as "Competitive Inhibition".

  • A competitive inhibitor resembles the substrate and binds to the active site of the enzyme.

  • After the binding of the competitive inhibitor to the enzyme, the substrate is prevented from binding to the same active site.

  • The phenomenon of "Competitive Inhibition" takes place according to the "Substrate Analogue".

  • "Sulpha drugs" are the competitive inhibitors of "Folic acid synthetase" in bacterial cells.

  • The activity of "Succinate Dehydrogenase" is inhibited by "Malonate".
