1 During 1918-19 and 1920-21 crops failed in many parts of India which led to the food shortages. The nationalist had taken advantage of this situation to encourage the people against the colonial rulers.

2. The common people felt that if the people of outside the country are against of this and they are unite for the Independence. This also helps in the growth of the national movement in India.
