How the following properties are changed in periods and groups in periodic table.
i) Atomic radius
ii) Ioniasation potential
iii) Electronic Affinity
iv) Electro Negativity
Answers
Answer:
i) Atomic radius
Atomic radius decreases as we go from left to right in a period and increases as we go down the group
ii) Ionization potential
Ionization potential increases as we go from left to right in a period and decreases as we go down the grp
Exception: The first ionization potential of O(Oxygen) is less than N (Nitrogen) because of the half-filled stable configuration of nitrogen it requires more energy for the removal of electrons.
iii) Electronic Affinity
Electron affinity increases as we go across a period and decreases as we go down the group
Exception: period 3 elements have higher electron affinity than the elements of period 2
iv) Electronegativity
Electronegativity decreases down the group and increases across a period.
the answer is defined in the paragraph above in order to recognoise it you need a substance called brainwhich i guess you dont have after looking on ure pfp ( profile picture} *Sobs
