 there are 2 parts of the OS: kernel and shell. kernel interacts with the user and shell interacts with the hardware and the software. the function of the operating system is to manage the input hardware so that the user can give command to it efficiently, process them and provide them to the software so that it can execute the command. the kernel and shell work together to manage the functioning of the entire computer.
