In solids the intermolecular distance is very less, therefore force of attraction between particles is maximum. In liquids the intermolecular distance and force of attraction between the particles is intermediate between solids and gases.
There exist least forces of attraction between particles of gases as the particles present far from each other.

Matter is made up of particles. These particles are very small. There is force acting on the particles which held them together. This force is gravitational force of attraction. This force pulls together all matter.
