A King's main purpose is the prosperity of his nation. He take decisions that suit everyone. He spends his life in serving people. While doing so, sometimes he has to take decisions that does not suit everyone's demands. Therefore, a King is not usually popular among all. Sometimes a just kind ends with nothing other than some die heart followers.
On the other hand, a merchant is concerned about his own benefit and the choices or decisions that benefit him. He doesn't have to deal with people directly and has less opponents or haters. He spends his life in securing his future economically and ends with no one but money and greedy people who don't care about him but his money.
