Simply because of the Coriolis Effect. Winds and currents will blow from right to left in the Northern Hemisphere and they will blow left to right in the Southern Hemisphere. Outside of Earth’s equatorial areas, weather patterns are driven largely by ocean currents. Currents are movements of ocean water in a continuous flow, created largely by surface winds but also partly by temperature and, Earth’s rotation, and tides (the gravitational effects of the sun and moon).

Hope this helps !!!!

our planets rotation produces a force on all body is moving related to the Earth due to Earth approximately spherical shape this force is greatest at the poles and list at the greater the force called the coriolis effect cause the direction of ocean currents to be deflected in Northern hemisphere wind and currents are deflected towards the right in Southern hemisphere they are deflected to the left
