How the pH of solution of an acid influenced when it is diluted?

As you dilute a solution, it becomes more and more like pure water. So thepH moves closer to the pH of pure water, pH 7. The pH decreases ondilution. When acid is diluted ,its pHwill increase as pH of acid is less than 7.

  • Water is mostly water molecules so adding water to an acid or base reduces the concentration of ions in the solution.

When an acidic solution is diluted with water the concentration of H + ions decreases and the pH of the solution increases towards 7.
