The by the then Prime Minister of India, Morarji Desai. It was a commission to shortlist socially and educationally backward classes, to consider reservation in jobs and to eradicate discrimination by caste.

Though the report was submitted in 1983, , leading to widespread protests and agitations, mostly by students. .

In a country of India’s proportions and cultural diversity, the reason why it met with such stiff resistance could be due to fear of mismanagement of the policies, misuse by the public and denial of opportunities for rightly deserving candidates.

The Mandal Commission is a commission of the the financially and educationally backward community of India was found in January 1979 by the former prime minister of India Morarji Desai.

This Commission has a huge importance for the common people who were educationally backward classes and financially backward classes also because this Commission concentrated on the Welfare of their society.
