Hi....
We know that Aluminium is amphoteric in nature so it reacts with acids as well as bases. Thus when aluminium hydroxide reacys with caustic soda that is sadium hydroxide,it will forms a sodium aluminate which is soluble in water and usually colourless and also water is formed.
NaOH + Al (OH)3--------NaAlO2 + H2O
Hope it will help u......
If u still have doubts u can ask to me....

muskan2111: how you did balancing
Anonymous: It si too easy
Anonymous: U can see the equation
muskan2111: valency of Al is 3
muskan2111: how NaAlO2 is formed
Anonymous: Just see Na and Al is a metal and o is non metal so Al has valency 3 and Na has valency 1 so on adding we het 4+charge. And oxygen has charge 2-thus 4-2 gives 2 so this different compound sodium aluminate is formed having 2 oxygen..
