Atomic number of hydrogen is 1.but atomic mass of hydrogen is 1.00794 atomic mass units.hydrogen is electropositive in nature sometimes it shares its electrons and sometimes it gains or accepts the electron.

we can find atomic mass of an atom by using its atomic number in the symbol of that particular atom. for example:- we have to find atomic mass of hydrogen, hydrogen have atomic number 1 and symbol is H2 so we have to multiply the atomic number of hydrogen with 2 then so that the atomic mass of hydrogen can be out as 2u.
