Assuming the brick having dimension = 19 x 9 x 9(in cm)

Assuming the thickness of mortar = 10 mm

volume considered = 1 cubic meter

let the ratio of mortar = 1:6

volume of 1 brick with mortar = .20 x .10 x .10

= .002 cubic meter

therefore no of bricks in 1 cubic meter = 1 / .002

= 500

volume of 1 brick without mortar = .19 x .09 x .09

= .001539 cubic meter

therefore volume of mortar per brick = .002 - .001539

= .000461 cubic meter

for 500 bricks volume of mortar required = 500 x .000461

= .2305 cubic meter

This is wet volume that means we need this much volume of cement mortar after mixing water, So for dry volume, we have to increase the quantity by 33 %.

now the volume (dry) = .2305 x 1.33

= .306565 cubic meter

therefore quantity of cement required = .306565 x 1 / 7

= .043795 cubic meter

quantity of cement required in kg = .043795 x 1440

= 63.06 kg

similarly quantity of sand required = .306565 x 6 / 7

= .26277 cubic meter

or quantity of sand in cubic feet = .26277 x 3.28 x3.28 x3.28

= 9.28 cubic feet.
