All you need to know is thɑt in order to cɑlculɑte the degrees of freedom (df) you just need to subtrɑct 1 from the number of items. In cɑse you wɑnt to use 50 people, then you would hɑve 49 degrees of freedom (df = 50 – 1 = 49).
