add the atomic weight of all the constituents of the gas.
for example its carbon dioxide,
CO₂=
Carbon = atomic weight is 12
so 12*1=12amu
Oxygen=atomic weight is 16
so 16*2=32amu
when you add this,
=32+12=44amu
Hence molecular weight of carbon dioxide is 44amu.
