The diopter is the unit of measure for the refractive power of a lens. The power of a lens is defined as the reciprocal of its focal length in meters, or D = 1/f, where D is the power in diopters and f is the focal length in meters. Lens surface power can be found with the index of refraction and radius of curvature.

You can use the formula for finding the power of lens ,

Power of lens =1/focal length
SI unit of power is dioptre

For example,if the focal length is 2 means the power of lens will be

Power of lens =1/3=0.5D

anuritha: If you want to solve if the image and object distance are given ,use the mirror formula first and then use power formula
