just simplify it upto when there occurs no common factor in numerator and denominator.

for eg. consider 5/10
here we can see that common factor is 5
therefore cancel it out by 5
we will have 5/10= 1/2 which is in standard form..
in case negative sign comes in denominator,
then bring it on numerator.
hence it will be in its standatd form...
