Tropic movement is growth dependant movement ( it depends on growth of the plant) , directional ( It has a fixed directional ) and is very slow ( it is observed clearly only after a few days)

Eg : Climbing of climber plants around a support , movement of a plant towards sunlight etc

Tropic movement.

Explanation:

  • The growth movements of plants in any direction which occurs due to external stimuli are known as Tropic Movement.
  • It is called to be positive if it moves towards the source of stimuli and negative if it directs away from the source stimuli.
  • For instance, the phototropic movement, the plant or shoot responds by bending towards light whereas roots respond by bending away from it.
