To convert calcium carbonate into calcium oxide, you will need to heat the powdered calcium carbonate to 1000°C in a furnace for one hour. The reaction is;- CaCO3 —-1000°C—-> CaO + CO2. CaCO3 starts to loose a significant amount of CO2 at about 900°C, so if the furnace needs to be capable of at least 1000°C to ensure complete calcination in a reasonable time.
