At first we have to treat ethyne with one equivalent soamide in presence of liquid ammonia. Then we have to treat this product with methyl iodide..Finally we will get propyne as our desired final product. It is a step up reaction.By this reaction we can easily prepare higher order alkyne easily by choosing alkyl halide.
