Hello friend
A mixed fraction has both a whole number and a fraction.
To convert a mixed fraction into an improper one, first multiply the denominator with the whole number and then add the numerator to the number obtained. This gives the numerator of the fraction. The denominator remains the same.
For example 2 1/5
Here 2 is the whole number
And 1/5 is the fraction
In order to convert it into an improper fraction then multiply the denominator i.e 5 with the whole number i.e 2 and with the end product (after the multiplication ) i.e 10 add the numerator i.e 10+1=11
That gives the numerator of the improper faction (11)
The denominator remains the same that is 5
The improper faction is 11/5
Hope it helps!
