aniline     ------------------------------------->  benzene diazonium chloride  -------------->  phenol


               NaNO2+HCL                                                                  aniline
aniline  -------------------------------------->   benzene diazonium chloride  -------------------->
 para-amino azobenzene.

Dear student,

● Nitrobenzene to p-aminoazobenzene -
Nitrobenzene is first reduced to aniline using H2/Pd.
C6H5-NO2 + 3H2 --> C6H5-NH2 + 2H2O

Aniline is then treated with HCl/NaNO2 to form benzene diazonium chloride.
C6H5-NH2 + HCl --> C6H5-N2Cl

Benzyl diazonium chloride again reacts with aniline ti form p-aminoazobenzene.
C6H5-N2Cl + C6H5-NH2 --> C6H5-NH-C6H5 + N2 + HCl
