To convert square metre into metre, take the \bold{square \ root} of the number.

For example :

We have to convert \mathsf{16 \ m^2} into metre.

Take the sq. root of \mathsf{16 \ m^2}, we get

\mathsf{= \ \sqrt{16 \ {m}^{2}}}

Simplify the number.

\mathsf{= \ \sqrt{4 × 4 × m × m}}

\mathsf{= \ \sqrt{{4}^{2} × {m}^{2}}}

\mathsf{= \ \sqrt{{4}^{2}} × \sqrt{{m}^{2}}}

When we remove the sq. root there is a power of 1 / 2.

\mathsf{= \ {({4}^{2})}^{\frac{1}{2}} × { ({m}^{2} )}^{ \frac{1}{2}}}

{ Using algebric expression -

\bold{(a^m)^n \ = \ {a}^{m × n} \ = \ {a}^{mn}} }

\mathsf{= \ {(4)}^{2 × \frac{1}{2}} × {(m)}^{2 × \frac{1}{2}}}

\mathsf{= \ 4 × m \ = \ 4 \ m}
