To do this, point your right thumb in the direction that the current travels in the coiled wire in the solenoid and curl your fingers.* The direction your fingers point will determine the direction of the magnetic field created by the current. Alternately the right-hand-grip rule is easier to use with solenoids....

Answer:The bar magnet would help in knowing the poles of solenoid.

Explanation:If North pole of our bar magnet is placed near NORTH POLE of solenoid the Bar magnet will be repelled from solenoid whereas when it placed near that of SOUTH it will get attracted.

[Like signs attract each other.Unlike signs repel each other]
