There are two electrodes

1)Anode-Positively charged

2)Cathode-Negatively charged

There are two types of ions Anions and Cations.Anions are negatively charged and cations are positively charged.

So the cathode attracts oppositely charged ion that is cations and anode attracts oppositely charged ion that is anion.
