First of all, both polar and non polar molecules are part of covalent bonds
When the shared electrons are located at the centre of the bond because the electronegativity of both elements is the same is called a polar molecules or homogeneous molecules
But when the electrons are towards one of the end of the bond because of attraction towards more electronegative element it is called a non polar molecules or heterogeneous molecules
