How to distinguish cis and trans butene by using uv vis spectra?

 wouldn't expect cis and trans isomer of an inorganic complex to be distinguishable in UV-Vis, because UV-Vis signals come from electronic transitions and those mainly depend on the identity of metal and ligands and through which atoms are ligands bound to the metal - by definition, for those isomers all that is the same
