General form of trinomial often will be ax² + bx + c. This kind of trinaomial is known as quatratic polynomial.
FACTIRIZATION OF TRINOMIAL
Example: 2x² + 7x - 9
Step 1: Multiply the coefficient of x² and constant term of these polynomial.
Here coefficient of x² is 2 &
Constant term is 9
Thus the product 2 × 9 = 18.
Step 2: Take factorsation of 18, i.e 18 = 2×3×3
here, we have to arrange in a way such that the product of these factors must be 18 & their operation should be the middle term. Here middle is 7. So, we should arrange this way -
18 = 2×(3×3) or
18 = 2 x 9
meanwhile we can rewrite the middle, here as
7 = 9 - 2
Note: 2×9 = 18 meanwhile
9-2 = 7 is middle term
Step 3: Rewrite the polynomial as
2x² + 7x + 9 = 2x² -2x + 9x - 9
= 2x(x-1) + 9 (x -1)
= (2x +9) (x -1) grouping the terms
