Let there be n heaps of 6 marbles each, then there are (72 - n) heaps of 9 marbles each.

Hence total marbles = 6n + (72-n)x9 = 480 ==> n = 56

Hence one has 56x6 = 336 marbles and the other has (72-56)x9 = 144 marbles
