it's easy

first you need to split the middle term

and then ur answer is ready..

let me show you..

 {y}^{2}  - 5y + 6 \\

when we split the middle term we should get 6 when we multiply any two no. and when we add those two no. we should get -5

So..

 {y}^{2} - 2y  - 3y  + 6

take common and ur answer is.

y(y - 2) - 3(y - 2)

I. e

y - 2  \: and \: y - 3

then ur answer is Y=2 or Y=3

= y² - 2Y - 3y + 6

= Y(Y - 2) - 3(Y -2)
