First lets us split the middle term of x²+2x-3

x²+2x-3 = x²+3x - x + 3

taking common terms we will get

x(x+3) and -1(x+3)

so x²+2x-3 = (x-1)(x+3)

now put the values of x in the given equation

put x=1 we get=

1-3-13+15 =16-16=0

also putting x=-3 we get,

-27-27+39+25

-54+54=0

hence x²+2x-3 is a factor
