  • Shift the electrons such that O has a partial negative change and the  carbon directly attached to =O (\\\tt \alpha carbon)  has a partial positive charge
  • Let the adjacent carbon \\\tt \beta carbon let the hydrogen leave with a + charge and the carbon attain a partial negative charge.
  • Since the alphas and beta carbon have opposite charge let one more bond snap there to make a double bond.
  • Let the H+ atom attach O- and form OH
