Just calculate the L. C. M. of the denominators and make them like fractions.If the number of rational numbers is less between them, like in this case, multiply both of them with 10/10 and you'll get the rational numbers between them.

so, we add one in rational no. =5+1=6
according to question
35/42 = 35 multiply by 42 and multiply by 6
= 210/252
like that, 36/42 =36 multiply by 6 and 42 multiply by 6

so, 210/252 and 216/252
