3x+y= 24.......(1)

1.5x+3y=42.......(2)

multiply (1)by 3 then subtract (2)

9x + 3y = 72

1.5x+3y = 42

-____-____-______

7.5x + 0 = 30

-------------------------

x = 30/7.5

x = 30×10/75

x= 4

by putting this value of x in equation (1)

3(4)+y= 24

12+y= 24

y = 12

so, the point is (4,12)
