Electronic configuration is the atomic no of the element or no of protons or no of electrons of the element. In the first or innermost shell, only 2 electrons can be there. In the second shell 8 electrons can be there. The same is for the other shells. The electronic configuration can be written by seeing the atomic no or no of protons or no of electrons and then writing it.
For example, the atomic no of hydrogen is 1,so the electronic configuration is 1. The atomic no of calcium is 20 so the electronic configuration is 2,8,8,2.
