How to find mean temperature of heat addition in a rankine cycle?
Answers
Carnot cycle gives max efficiency since heat addition takes place at constant temperature T-4 = T-1, and efficiency is given by η= 1 —(heat rejected / heat added) and in absolute temperature scale η(c)= 1 — (T-2/T-1)……….1 Rankine cycle will not have constant temperature heat addition, but have constant temperature heat rejection ( the process 2–3). and efficiency in absolute temperature scale η(r)= 1— [T-2/(T-1—T-4)]……..2 and hence from .1 &.2 , In analogy to T-1 in carnot cycle, we define an average temperature of heat addition in Rankine cycle as T-m = T-1—T-4, which is called mean temperature of heat addition. from the above explanation, we can say that T-m is the constant temperature at which the same amount of heat can be added( h-1—h-4) in ideal rankine cycle
