Molar mass is the sum of the masses of all the elements or ions present in a compound.
For eg . H2O
= 2( mass of H ) + mass of oxygen
= 2×1 + 16
= 18 units

To find molar mass one have to add every elements atomic mass in a molecule.
for ex-in NaOH
At mass if Na-23
O-16
H-1
so lets add them 23+16+1
=40
