Of oxidation number incrases then substance is oxidised and is called as reducing agent
.like beforr oxidation number of O was 0 then it becomes +2 then it is oxidised and is reducing agent in the reaction
Similarly if oxidation number is reduced then substance is reduced and is called as oxidising agent
Like
H2 first has +1 oxidation state and after it becomes 0 then it is reduced and would be called oxidising agent there
Hope it helps
Thanks

Get an equation for finding the the oxidizing or reducing agent. For example. If in H20
As the oxidation no. oxygen is -2 equation becomes , X +(-2)= 0 . Here X is the oxidation number element that you want to find out and 0 is the neutral charge on complete molecule.
