↪ Position of elements in periodic table is determined by calculating group no. and periodic no. as follows
✡ PERIOD NO. -- Highest value of principal quantum no.
✡ GROUP NO. -- For s - block elements = Valence electrons I.e. nse
For p- block elements = Valence electrons (nse + npe) + 10
For d - block elements = Valence electrons nse + (n-1 ) d electrons

Find period and group no.
First we write the configuration of that element
then the period is=Principal quantum no. of valence shell
and the group= Position of last electron of valence shell.
