This is an easy way I use most often and it will work 99 percent.

count the number of bond pairs and add to it number of lone pairs.

No of lone pairs can be easily calculated by subtracting the no, of bond pairs from valency of central atom and dividing it by 2.

If the above value is 2,3,4,5 etc then the hybridization is sp,sp2,sp3,sp4 etc respectively. Beware of dsp2 and d2sp3 in coordination compounds that we find by the nature of ligands.

Easy way to find Hybridisation:
1)If angle is given sp=180, sp2=120, sp3=109'28'
2)eg: Find Hybridisation of NH3 then consider the valence electrons, in this case the central atom is N and it has 5 valence electrons. H has 3 valence electrons and since 3 hydrogen atoms are present total valency is 3. Add the two numbers that is equal to 8 divide it by 2 which is equal to 4. So the hybridisation is sp3.So when you add up the valency of the two atoms if it is less than or equal to 8, divide it by 2. If it is greater than 8 , divide by 8. Hope this helps
