You can find the square root of any number by subtracting it from consecutive odd numbers starting from one. the square root of the number is = to the number of steps involved.
For example:
we can find the square root of 16 by successive subtraction
- 16-1 = 15
- 15- 3 = 12
- 12- 5 = 7
- 7-7 = 0
Here four steps are involved therefore the square root of 16 is four.
