11
for example if you take√144 which is equal to 12 then
step 1: we have to take the last two digits
_
|144|
step 2: we have to find the nearby square which is lower than the first digits
(1^1=1<or equal to1)
step 3:we have to subtract that square(1)from the first digits (1) and bring the next two digits down
_
1 |144| 1
|1__
|044| 1
step 4: we have to add the last digit of the divisor(1) to the divisor(1)
1+1=2
step 5: wet have to take it as divisor up-to tens place
2_ |044| 1
step 6: then we have number is suitable so that the one's place of divisor and one's place of coefficient should be same
22 |044| 12
|044|
0
(here one's place of divisor(2) and the one's place of coefficient(2) are same)
step 7: repeat it until you get the remainder as 0(for perfect square only)
step 8: the final coefficient(12) is the root of the taken number(144).

Finding square roots

  • The inverse opposite operation of adding is subtraction and the inverse operating of multiplication and division finding the square roots is the inverse operation of squaring.

  • We have,

  • 1²=1,therefore square root of 1 is 1
  • 2²=4,therfore square root of 4 is 2
  • 3²=9,therfore square root of 9 is 3

Example.

  • Square roots of 81 and 9 and -9

  • Since, 9²=81,
  • and (-9)²=81

We say that square roots of 81,9 and -9
