To find the square root of 170, you must find a number that has a square root. I'll do this with 4 (sadly its a decimal ;-;). Since 4 has a square root of two, the square root can be simplified to 2√42.5. You could go even further by taking out 25 and turning it into 10√1.7 (Since √4=2 and √25=5, you'd multiply 2*5). I'd say that's as simple you can make it, but if you want to use that to find the square root it'd be 13.0384048104 (you can see why it's easier to keep it in the simplified form).
