Emergent ray is the ray that comes out of a refracting medium. The anglemade by the emergent ray with the normal to the surface is called angle of emergence. BC is the emergent ray inprism and the glass slab and e is theangle of emergence.

1) Use Snell's law to calculate the angle at which the ray is transmitted into the prism.

2) Use the inner triangle formed by the ray and the surfaces of the prism to calculate the angle a which the ray hits the surface of the prism on its way out.

3) Use Snell's law to calculate the exit angle.
