Hey there!

an= a+ (n-1)d

Where, an= nth term or the last term

a= the first term

n= number of terms

d= common difference

For example,here's an AP

3,8,13......253

a=3 ,

d= 8-3=5,

an= 253(last term)

n=?

Substitute the values in the equation

an= a+(n-1) d

= 253=3+(n-1)5

=253-3=5n-5

=250+5=5n

==>n= 255/5

=51
