Suppose we have two sets of parametric equations c1(u)=(x1(u),y1(u)) and c2(v)=(x2(v),y2(v))representing two 2D planar curves. When I say "2D planar curves" I mean that c1(u) and c2(u) are mappings from compact intervals in R to R2. We can assume (without loss of generality, I think) that c1:I→R2 and c2:I→R2, where I=[0,1]. You can assume some continuity or differentiability ofc1(u) and c2(u), if that helps.
